Weather: Marousakis’ post in detail

A storm line is currently affecting a large part of the Aegean Sea.

What is the line of fire?

It is an area narrow in width, long in length with storms which may be accompanied by hail, large volume of water, high frequency of electrical discharges, very strong winds, tornadoes – hydro-tornadoes and which form along a cold front.

By cold front, we mean the dividing surface between cold air that follows and warm air that precedes it.

Weather: “Lightning storm” sweeps the Aegean – New wave of bad weather from the weekend

A wave of bad weather is underway in several geographical areas of the country, today Monday, according to Clearchos Marousakis.

In particular, as the Open meteorologist reports, very strong southerlies are noted mainly in the Aegean, reaching 7-8 Beaufort, with storms dominating at the moment especially towards the east. At the same time, there is an improvement in the weather from west to east, as the barometric low shifts in that direction. The temperature will reach 17-19 degrees Celsius in the late afternoon, while there is also a transport of African dust due to the prevailing southerlies.

Weather: What is the spate of storms that hit the Aegean

The line of the “splash of storms” extends mainly from the region of Boeotia to the northern and northeastern Aegean. The characteristics of this phenomenon are small width and long length, like a thin line. The “storm surge” will affect parts of the central, eastern and northern Aegean, with plenty of rain, thunderstorms, hail and strong winds.

The weather in Attica and Thessaloniki

The storm front dissipated on the side of Boeotia, with the result that nothing of note was noted on Monday morning in Attica. There may be some rain until early afternoon, but then the weather will start to improve. The winds blow in south-westerly directions with very strong intensities, while the mercury will reach 19 degrees Celsius.

An unstable weather pattern is recorded in Thessaloniki, with rains and strong storms especially in the southernmost parts, but the weather will slowly start to improve. At the same time, strong southerly winds are blowing in the area. The temperature will reach 16 degrees Celsius, late in the afternoon.

New wave of bad weather from the weekend with strong effects

The effects of bad weather will be limited to the eastern Aegean, with the consequence that the weather will remain unstable tomorrow, Tuesday (13/2). From Wednesday (14/2) north winds will begin to blow, with the result that the phenomena will be located in the east, south and north of Crete, while there will also be a slight drop in temperature. A new wave of bad weather will appear from the weekend, coming from the west. So, on Sunday (18/2) it looks like we will have a new barometric low that will bring intense effects to the country, but with temperatures rising again as the winds turn southerly.
