Apparently, the night’s strong wind had the most impact for electricity supplies. The most common cause of breakdowns were trees falling into the line and subsequent damage to parts of the line. In the ČEZ Distribuce network, the situation was worst shortly before midnight, when there was no power at 32,000 collection points, mostly in the Central Bohemian, Ústí and Hradec Králové regions. During the night, it was possible to remove the faults, in the morning there were still around 3,100 households without supplies, ČEZ spokeswoman Soňa Holingerová told ČTK today.

Distribution company EG.D. according to the spokesman Roman Šperňák, it registered roughly as of this morning 3,000 households with limited supplies, especially in Prostějovsk and southern Bohemia.

Firefighters from the Railway Administration intervened in less than a dozen incidents in connection with strong winds on Thursday evening and overnight today. “These were downed trees on the tracks and catenary lines. Even at night, the firefighters managed to get all the tracks operational,” Kavka said around 8:00 a.m. today, saying that all incidents on the railway were without injuries.

Until midnight from Saturday to Sunday, the section of road I/10 from Tanvald to Harrachov should be temporarily closed. “Depending on the condition of the roadway for trucks and the development of the weather, the closing date may be changed,” said Ondřej Svoboda from the company Silnice LK, which is in charge of communications in the Liberec region.
