“In the next few days, the sun will shine in many placesbut mainly in south-western Bohemia and Silesia, low clouds will remain cloudy and freezing fog will form in places in the morning,” said the ČHMÚ. On Saturday, freezing fog can last all day.

As expected, it snowed on Christmas Day mainly in Šumava and Pošumaví. Five to 15 centimeters of snow fell there. Elsewhere, the maximum was three centimeters, but most of the Czech Republic remained snow-free. It will be similar in the coming days. According to meteorologists, snow showers will appear only at the beginning of next week, especially in the mountains.

Maximum temperatures are not expected to exceed three degrees Celsius by the end of this week. At night they will drop below zero, for example on Friday night it can be as low as minus ten degrees.

On Monday and Tuesday, meteorologists expect a relatively significant and more permanent cooling. “Very cold air will enter much of Europe from the north around a large depression over Russia. There will usually be a lot of cloudiness and the chances of snowfall will also increase significantly,” they said. According to them, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Eve will be cold with afternoon highs mostly only around zero or even below. It will be permanently freezing in the mountains.

It may snow more often. However, it is not yet possible to determine where and how much snow will fall. However, according to meteorologists, the overall trend is already obvious. “We will enter the new year with cold weather and in many places even all-day frost,” they added.

• On Sunday, partly cloudy to cloudy skies can be expected, with low clouds appearing in places. It will snow lightly and mainly in the northeast and north.
• In the afternoon, it will clear up outside the northern parts of the country. At night, the mercury in the thermometer drops to -1 to -5 °C, during the day it rises to -2 to 2 °C. The maximum wind speed will be around 6 m/s.
