In the first half of the week, it will be windy in the east of the area, with gusts of wind reaching 55 km/h, which may complicate the spreading of witch fires. Dust from the Sahara can affect temperatures and cloudiness.
It will be partly clear or almost clear on Monday. Morning temperatures 14 to 10 °C. Daily temperatures 21 to 25 °C. “This morning brings very different temperatures. While in the W (west, editor’s note) territory temperatures fell to values of around 5 °C with weaker wind, at the same time the stations in the lee of the Beskydy had up to 17 °C due to the hairdryer effect,” the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute (ČHMÚ) informs on the X network. He also stated that the amount of cloud cover will depend on the amount of sand dust from the Sahara.

Fire bans
Later in the morning, he wrote, there will be a high risk of fires in the southwest of Moravia on Monday. “The area with a high risk of fires will expand in the coming days due to persistent high temperatures and increasing winds in most of the territory of the Czech Republic, with the exception of the Zlín, Olomouc and Moravian-Silesian regions and the extreme south-west and west of Bohemia. The risk of fires will probably decrease as a result of local showers on Friday, May 3,” meteorologists said.
The Central Bohemian region has already banned the lighting of fires, it will apply from Tuesday. “Although many will not like it, please be considerate and postpone your burnings until a more convenient time,” wrote local firefighters. Fires may not be lit in the gardens either. Violation of obligations is punishable by a fine, spokeswoman for the Central Bohemian Fire Department, Veronika Švorcová Mocová, said today.
Thunderstorms will play a leading role from Thursday

The dust from the Sahara “speaks” to the weather again
Dust from the Sahara once again came over the Czech Republic. Dust from the Sahara or the northern coast of Africa reaches us several times a year in the upper layers of the atmosphere. Dust from Ukraine can also reach the Czech Republic, e.g. March 24, 2007. According to foreign studies, up to 60,000 tons of dust reaches Central Europe every year. Dust from the Sahara is usually yellow or brown.
In the first half of next week, dust particles will spread over Scandinavia and the UK. Here, the rain will gradually wash them away from Thursday. Again, they can “speak” into the weather forecast. Cloud ice crystals, if there are dust particles on them, they radiate more heat at the top, so there are temperature differences and turbulence that creates wavy structures at the top of the cloud.
Are the ice men coming?
For the past four years, the weather in May in the Czech Republic has been below average in terms of temperature compared to the long-term normal and, on the contrary, abundant in precipitation. Will this May break the streak?
The long-term temperature norm in the Czech Republic for this period is 13 °C, the average amount of precipitation is 69 mm (from 1981–2010). The weather doesn’t look like ice men.
Weather outlook for the period 6-10
Partly cloudy to cloudy, sometimes rain or showers and thunderstorms. Morning temperatures 14 to 9 °C. Daily temperatures 16 to 22 °C.
Weather outlook for the period 11.-20.
In the first half of the season, cloudy to partly cloudy, sometimes rain or showers, occasional thunderstorms. Gradually, partial reduction of cloud cover and precipitation. Morning temperatures 11 to 5 °C, gradually 14 to 10 °C. Daily temperatures 16 to 23 °C, at the end of the season up to 25 °C.
Weather outlook for the period 21-31
At the beginning of the period, mostly partly cloudy, gradually increasing clouds, in places with occasional rain or showers and thunderstorms. Morning temperatures 13 to 7 °C. Daily temperatures 18 to 27 °C.
