From tomorrow, according to the well-known meteorologist Clearchos Marousakis, the weather will begin to change moving towards the weekend, with showers and local storms expected to occur in northern Greece. Afterwards, however, unstable air masses will begin to affect more and more areas, due to the “cold lake” effect.

As he states in his forecast, from Saturday onwards, some “cold lakes” will begin to approach the country. The phenomena will extend to the Ionian and the continental as well as the northern and northwestern Aegean and will manifest mainly from noon onwards. The following Sunday, the landscape remains the same.

However, the weather is expected to be unstable next week as well, with the mercury approaching the normal temperatures for the season, i.e. 22 to 26 degrees Celsius.

The African dust is receding, but above where the mercury started to rise, the weather landscape changes over the weekend and the “cold lake” phenomenon arrives.

With his post on his personal account on platform X, the well-known meteorologist and director of EMY Thodoris Kolidas talks about the phenomenon and also about the unstable weather it will cause. It is recalled that in the previous days high temperatures prevailed in most regions of the country, with the mercury reaching up to 38 degrees Celsius.

But according to Mr. Kolydas, the temperatures this weekend will be a thing of the past. “The heat and dust haven’t finished yet and already in our lives the “Cold Lake weather” has entered the headlines of the media, which is coming from the weekend to make us simply -as always-…soaked”, he says among other things in his post, so it is understood that the landscape is expected to be rainy.

As the director of EMY mentions in his post, the “cold lake” phenomenon is: “the cold and unstable air masses of the upper low, which contrast with the warmer air masses in the lower layers of the atmosphere and with the dynamics that exists, they cause the development of clouds at a height and storms occur”.
