Frosts can damage blooming trees in lower altitudes, apricots are particularly endangered. The freezing was in the night of the wound and in the Elbe and around Prague, Where many trees are blooming, meteorologists said.
Fear of apricots
In Moravia and Silesia, the wind and the sky was helped by fruit growers. “In the south of Moravia even at several stations – for example in Strážnice or Kobylí – only a few tenths below zero dropped and most stations got to minus one degree Celsius. A similar situation is in the lowlands in the Olomouc region, Přerov and the Ostrava region. said CHMI.
The warmest was in Olomouc-Holice, where the temperature did not fall below zero for the whole night. Even in Moravia and Silesia, however, the morning temperatures were different – where they did not blow so much, the temperatures dropped lower.
“We hope to save as much as possible from the harvest. The next night will be freezing as well, but the clouds will be more, but it will be less blowing,” Meteorologists added.
After a few warm days, the Arctic air arrived at the Czech Republic at the weekend, it was sharply cooled and CHMI released a warning of frosts in the growing season. It is still valid until Monday morning. The annual spring frosts are one of the greatest threats for Czech fruit growing, growers have been repeatedly annoying in recent years. Last year, almost all fruit in Bohemia froze, in Moravia the situation was just a little better.
Growers and gardeners seek to destroy the harvest of spring frosts by covering the stands of non -woven fabric, eating orchards or using portable heaters, but often in vain. Moreover, some procedures are expensive and do not guarantee that the trees will not freeze.
How will it be next?
“Between the pressure above the Norwegian and the North Sea and the pressure lower over Eastern Europe, the origin of the Arctic air from the north to the northeast will flow to us,” Institutes the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute in weekly predictions. “His tide will slowly weaken from Tuesday to the British Isles will slowly expand to Central Europe.” In England they enjoyed almost summer, on Friday at noon they measured 21 Celsius degrees.
We can only dream of that. For almost or partly cloudy Sunday, expect variable, but rather large clouds, mountains in the north and northeast of the country can observe unique snow showers. Temperatures in 1000 m in the mountains will be around minus three, otherwise they are waiting between 3 and 7 ° C. In Bohemia, a slight northern wind at a speed of 3 to 7 m/s, in Moravia and Silesia about 2 m/s faster, with impacts around 15 m/s. It weakens in the evening.
Monday will be cloudy to cloudy. “In the northeastern half of the territory in places snow showers, in the mountains snowfall more frequent,” notes the Institute. In lower altitudes, mixed or rainfall gradually comes. After the night freezing just below zero (in low wind but also around -6 ° C), the mercury of the thermometer climb to 4 to 8 degrees, in the Czech Republic, rarely up to 10 ° C. The wind will be weak in the west, slight (2-6 m/s) elsewhere. “Night frost can damage especially flowering fruit trees,” Meteorologists add to the night at the turn of the week. For all Sundays and Monday morning, there is a warning of low temperatures throughout the state.
Tuesday again cloudy to cloudy, in places with rain or showers, at higher temperatures and snow. Night temperatures should be just above zero, the daily ones can climb up to 12 ° C; The wind will be weak, maximum mild (up to 6 m/s).
Mild frosts will return on Wednesday night (the lowest temperature -2 to 2 ° C), but during the day it should be even warmer than Tuesday (9-13 ° C). The sky will be cloudy to partly cloudy.
Warming will continue, the night on Thursday should be above zero (5 to 1 ° C), unless the temperatures may drop up to two degrees below zero. The day will be warmer, 10-14 ° C with sky cloudy to cloudy, rarely cloudy. In places you can expect showers or rain, in higher altitudes in the northeast and mixed or snow showers.
The view of the weekend is similar – cloudy to cloudy, sometimes in places rain or showers that will gradually disappear. It should not freeze anymore, on the contrary it can be 16 degrees.
