Today will probably be the hottest day of the year in the Czech Republic, with temperatures reaching 37 degrees in the south of Moravia. The night will also be tropical, it will cool slightly on Thursday.
In other regions, maximum temperatures will be several degrees lower. Due to the dry and hot weather that will continue in southern Moravia for the next few days, there is a fire warning in place until further notice. This follows from the current warning of the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute (ČHMÚ).
“During yesterday, the highest temperature exceeded 35 °C in several places. The highest temperature rose in Doksany, at 35.8 °C. We are also expecting a hot day today, temperatures will rise to 31 to 35 °C, in southern Moravia the temperature can reach 37 °C,” states in today’s forecast of the ČHMÚ.
The limit of the so-called supertropical day, i.e. 35 degrees, was already measured by some stations on Tuesday. The thermometer showed the most in Doksany in Litoměřice, namely 35.8 degrees Celsius.
The night on Thursday will be very warm, often tropical, when temperatures will not drop below 20 degrees Celsius. During the day it will be a little colder than today. “However, it will remain uncomfortably stuffy as there will be more moisture in the air,” meteorologists added. In the southeast of the country, the heat will probably last until Saturday.
Due to dry and hot weather until further notice fire warning is in effect in the south of Moravia and for today also for a large part of Bohemia. The heat and fire risk in some regions will be moderated by storms.
