Five units of firefighters with five tankers and high-altitude equipment went to the fire in a part of the roof of a house in Dolní Bečva. The fire started shortly before 6:00 p.m. “Because the fire spread under the sheet metal covering, it was necessary to gradually dismantle it and search for hidden foci in the roof structure. All premises were checked with a thermal camera,” the spokesman said.

Firefighters managed to extinguish the fire after 20:00. “Due to the rainy weather and the reduction of other damages, the roof was provisionally tarred on the command of the commander, and volunteer units were left on the spot to watch until midnight,” said Řezníček.

In connection with during Thursday’s storms, firefighters recorded 30 incidents in the Zlín region in the afternoon and early evening. Storms also raged in the Olomouc region or in the south of Bohemia.

The tropics will return

It will be partly cloudy to cloudy on Friday, with occasional showers. The highest temperatures during the day rise to 24 to 28 degrees, in the south of Moravia to 30 degrees Celsius.

It will be cloudy to partly cloudy until Saturday. Showers will come rather sporadically, with a higher probability in the north and northeast of the country. In the afternoon, the rain will stop and it will start to clear. Night temperatures can drop to 14 °C, during the day they rise from 25 to 29 °C, in the south of Moravia up to 31 °C.

On Sunday night, it will be clear to partly cloudy, but a little colder – the thermometer may show between 17 and 13 °C. However, it will warm up to 31 °C during the day and a little more again in the south of Moravia – there people will even be able to record 33 °C.

At the beginning of next week, meteorologists expect so-called supertropical temperatures, i.e. 35 degrees and more. On Tuesday, the thermometer can exceptionally show up to 38 degrees Celsius. In the next few days it will get colder, the heat will last longer in Moravia. Thunderstorms may also arrive, sometimes very strong.
