Weather: Rapid change in the next few hours - Thunderstorms and a drop in temperature

In fact, according to meteorologists, the heat will be replaced by storms and a big drop in temperature.

The weather will start to change from today at noon, while from Wednesday the “express” bad weather is expected to affect the entire country.

According to the post of the director of the National Meteorological Service (NMS), Thodoris Kolydas, instability is expected on Wednesday in the Central and Northern regions and on Thursday in all continental regions, with possibly strong storms.

Gradually there will be a weakening of the winds that will reach 5-6 Beaufort in the Aegean. A small boost to 6-7 Beaufort, however, is expected next Saturday.

In terms of temperatures, after 37 to 38 locally on the mainland, we will have a downward trend in the mercury from Wednesday, with a return close to normal levels for the season.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR TUESDAY 02-07-2024
Local rains are predicted in the Ionian and continental regions, and isolated storms in Epirus, Macedonia and Thessaly from noon. In the evening in most areas the weather will improve and the effects will be limited locally in central and eastern Macedonia. In the rest of the country, generally clear weather with sparse clouds from midday to the north.

Winds in the west will blow from south and gradually from west directions 3 to 5 Beaufort. In the east they will be variable 3 to 4 and gradually from southern directions locally up to 5 Beaufort and only in the Aegean they will blow from northern directions 3 to 5 and in the southeast temporary local 6 Beaufort, gradually turning to west southwest with the same intensity.

Meteorological conditions favor the transport of African dust to the west and south.

The temperature will drop slightly in the northwest, but in the rest of the country it will remain at the same levels and will reach 37 to 38 degrees on the mainland, while in the island country it will reach 32 to 36 degrees Celsius.

MACEDONIA, THRACE
Weather: In Macedonia, sparse clouds which from the midday hours and from the west will thicken and there will be local rains and gradually isolated storms. Improvement of the weather in the evening in western Macedonia. In Thrace generally clear, from midday sparse clouds that will thicken in the evening.

Winds: Variable 3 and mid-afternoon temporarily southerly in the central parts locally up to 5 Beaufort.

Temperature: From 20 to 37 and locally 38 degrees Celsius. In western Macedonia the maximum will be 3 to 4 degrees lower.

IONIAN ISLANDS, EPIROS, WEST STEREA, WEST PELOPONNISOS
Weather: Sparse clouds which quickly in the northern Ionian and Epirus and gradually in the rest of the regions will thicken and there will be local rains mainly in the north and in the midday and afternoon hours in Epirus isolated storms. Improvement of the weather in the evening.

Winds: From the south and gradually from the west directions 3 to 5 Beaufort.

Temperature: From 23 to 36 degrees and in continental areas to 37 and in places 38 degrees Celsius.

EASTERN STEREA, EVIA, EASTERN PELOPONNISOS
Weather: Generally sunny. From midday, sparse clouds temporarily thicker until the afternoon, so there will be local rains or showers in the mountains.

Winds: Variable 3 to 4 and gradually from noon from south directions locally to 5 Beaufort.

Temperature: From 22 to 37 and locally 38 degrees Celsius.

CYCLADES, CRETE
Weather: Generally sunny.

Winds: From north directions 3 to 5 gradually turning from noon to west southwest with the same intensity.

Temperature: From 23 to 32 degrees and in Crete up to 34 degrees Celsius.

EAST AEGEAN ISLANDS – DODECANISE
Weather: Generally clear with sparse clouds from the afternoon in the north.

Winds: From north directions 3 to 5 and temporarily in the south local to 6 Beaufort, turning gradually from the afternoon to west directions with the same intensity.

Temperature: From 22 to 34 and in places 35 degrees Celsius.

THESSALY
Weather: Sparse clouds which will thicken in the midday and afternoon hours and there will be local rains and isolated storms in the mountains.

Winds: Variable 3 and gradually to the east east southeast to 4 Beaufort.

Temperature: From 22 to 38 degrees Celsius, while in the Sporades the maximum will be 4 to 5 degrees lower.

ATTICA
Weather: Generally clear with sparse clouds from the afternoon.

Winds: Variable 3 and from noon south to 4 Beaufort.

Temperature: From 24 to 37 degrees Celsius.

THESSALONIKI
Weather: Scattered clouds which from the midday hours will thicken and there will be local rains and possibly isolated thunderstorms.

Winds: Variable 3 to 4 and from noon southerly to 5 Beaufort.

Temperature: From 22 to 36 degrees Celsius.
