The most serious flood situation will occur on the rivers that drain this mountain range and other mountainous areas in the northeast of the country. Some rivers will significantly exceed stage three flood activity over the weekend. Especially in the Jeseníky region, it may rain around 60 mm.

On Friday, meteorologists expect mostly cloudy skies with rain, especially in the eastern half of the territory, and persistent and abundant rain, in the west of Bohemia only rain in places. Moderate, gradually in places fresh north-west to north wind 4 to 8 m/s, in places with gusts around 15 m/s. In particular, there is a risk of flooding in the northeastern and eastern parts of the Czech Republic, locally it may rain around 80 mm.

Outlook for the weekend

Extreme precipitation is expected until Sunday. “In the south-eastern half of the territory and on the mountains in the north-east and north of Bohemia, the expected totals are between 150 and 250 millimeters (in four days). We expect the highest rainfall totals in the Jeseníky region, over 300 millimeters,” stated in the alert the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute (ČHMÚ). In other parts of the country, the rain will be less intense.
