The Ubaye and Haut-Verdon massifs placed at avalanche risk marked by Météo-France

While snowfall has returned to the lower Alpine peaks, Météo-France has placed the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence at significant avalanche risk. More precisely, it is the Ubaye and Haut-Verdon massifs exceeding 2,000 m in altitude which should be covered with a thick white coat during the night of December 4 to 5, 2025.

A risk of avalanche with spontaneous departures is also present, with a maximum risk of triggering following the passage of skiers or hikers.

Thus, the Prefecture of the department recalls the preventive measures to be adopted. Skiers are encouraged to stay on open slopes and, otherwise, “engage the safety of rescuers in the event of an incident“, reminds the Prefecture. It is also advisable to consult the snow and weather forecasts before leaving, to equip yourself with an avalanche victim detector (DVA), a shovel, a reflector and an individual probe.
