During the afternoon of Monday, October 27, 2025, the La Aurora International Airport received the first flight of the airline Wingo. This pilot trip marked the beginning of a new stage for air connectivity between Guatemala and Colombia. Although it was a test flight, the arrival was a symbolic event that anticipates the official start of operations scheduled for Wednesday, October 29.

The new Wingo route will directly connect Guatemala City with Bogotáoffering three weekly frequencies. The inaugural flight was attended by authorities from the Guatemalan Tourism Institute (Inguat), representatives of the airline and the General Directorate of Civil Aeronautics (DGAC). Everyone highlighted the importance of this new connection as an opportunity to strengthen tourism, business and cultural exchange between both countries.

The start of Wingo operations represents an opportunity to boost Guatemala’s air connectivity. With the Bogotá–Guatemala routetravelers will have a new option to travel between Central America and South America.

This not only benefits tourism, but also trade and the mobility of professionals who travel between both countries.

With this new alternative, the number of travelers is expected to increase in both directions. Additionally, as a low-cost airline, access to cheaper tickets could open up the possibility for more people to travel abroad for the first time or make more frequent visits.

Tickets are now available through Wingo’s official website, where users can check availability, updated prices and trip customization options. The platform allows you to easily add luggage, change dates or include additional services.

The airline will operate three weekly flights between Bogotá and Guatemala City. The frequencies are programmed for the Monday, Wednesday and Friday, a layout designed to serve both business travelers and tourists looking for weekend getaways or longer stays.

These schedules also allow a good connection with other Wingo flights within Colombia and to international destinations, which expands the possibilities for those who want to continue their trip to other cities in South America.

One of the biggest attractions of this new route is its price. The tickets for the direct flight Guatemala–Bogotá They have rates from USD $200 round trip, an affordable cost compared to traditional options.

However, it is important to note that this price corresponds to the basic rate, which only includes one personal item with maximum measurements of 40 cm x 25 cm x 25 cm.

If passengers wish to carry additional luggage, they can do so for an extra fee. A carry-on bag or a checked bag costs from USD $33 each way, depending on the type of baggage and when the service is added. This modality allows users to pay only for what they need, keeping prices low for those who travel light.
