The meteorological institute had already placed 19 departments on orange alert since Wednesday February 11 in the morning, mainly for risks of floods and rain-flooding. Others have been there since 10 a.m. due to avalanches and strong winds.
23 departments are placed this Wednesday, February 11, on orange vigilance by Weather France from West to East in the country. 19 departments were already placed on orange alert for floods or rain-flooding due to a depression coming from the Atlantic, called Nils, approaching the French coast.
The two departments from Corsica and the Landes are concerned only by vigilance for violent winds. L’Isèrethe Haute-Savoiethe Savoy and the Hautes-Alpes are on orange alert due to the risk of avalanche.
On the flood side, the following are concerned: Morbihanthe Loire-Atlantiquethe Maine-et-LoireTHE Deux-Sèvresthe Viennathe Haute-Viennethe Dordognethe Corrèze (also on alert for rain-flood), the Lot-et-Garonnethe Tarn-et-Garonnethe Haute-Garonne, l’Ariègebut also the Vendeethe Charente, the Charente-Maritime and the Gironde (all four also on alert for strong winds).
Cantal and Puy-de-Dôme had been placed on orange rain-flood vigilance in the morning before Météo-France switched them back to yellow vigilance.
