A big blue sky, a radiant sun, but freezing temperatures: this Sunday, it was cold in Lyon and in the Rhône. If the mercury has risen to 4°C, the feeling is much lower, around – 5°C.
The reason? A north wind which blows continuously, with gusts of up to 55 km/h.
Windy again this Monday
This wind will continue this Monday with gusts of up to 40 km/h, “then will decline significantly in the following days”, according to Christophe Mertz, meteorologist at Météo News.
In the morning, it will be between -3°C and -6°C in Lyon and the Rhône, “and perhaps a little less locally, in the Lyonnais mountains”. In the afternoon, a slight warm spell with the mercury oscillating between 1°C and 3°C in Lyon and between 0°C and 1°C in the rest of the department.
“Frosts possible until Friday”
It will be between -5°C and -6°C overnight from Monday to Tuesday but on Tuesday afternoon, we can count on a slight mild spell with temperatures between 4°C and 5°C.
As for Wednesday, it will be between -2° and -3°C in the morning and around 8°C in the afternoon. Overall, “small frosts are possible until Friday”. For the meteorologist, “this is completely ordinary winter weather”.
The Rhône is doing better than the Loire and Haute-Loire, two departments which are on “severe cold” vigilance until at least this Monday.
