The legal battle has just been won by the town hall of Paris. With the green light from the administrative court, the vegetated space on boulevard Jules Ferry could be transformed into a large and long walk such as can be found in Spanish cities. In particular, the famous Ramblas of Barcelona.
For this purpose, the central wooden walk above the Saint-Martin canal would be required to disappear and the play areas should be redeveloped. The boulevard, too, would then be transformed.

“The parking queue will be essentially dedicated to bikes and deliveries, there will be a traffic lane which will be a bike, that is to say that the bikes will be priority everywhere. And then the sidewalk will be extended “explains the socialist mayor of the 11th arrondissement, François Vauglin.
A green space in the heart of the essential district for parents of children: “There are a number of uses that are complicated when you live in the neighborhood, in any case. There are spaces outside of these grids that prevent you from walking. There is really very little space between the side of the sidewalk and the gates“Regrets a young mother.
But Ramblas’s project is far from unanimous. This local resident is opposed to it. She even created an association which is mainly opposed to the withdrawal of the gates. “”We are completely open to possibilities, but there are still things that seem essential to us. It is to keep the integrity of squares, for us, it is important, in addition, in heritage matters. People have attached themselves to these grids, to these bridges which are in fact a cultural marker of the district“, Assures Sylvie Bonnet, president of the Saupons Jules and Richard association.
Eight months from the municipal elections, the work of the promenade should not start before the middle of next year.
