Delta Air Lines and United Airlines face a lawsuit from passengers who claim they are charged additional fees for window seats. It turned out to be sitting in a chair attached to the plane’s wall without a window.
The lawsuit, which was filed separately to the two airlines of the United States, demanded compensation for millions of dollars for more than one million customers, each airline. The passengers considered the company did not tell the seat not to have a window during the ordering process, despite imposing premium tariffs.
The two similar lawsuits were filed by Greenbaum Olbrantz’s law firm. In a court document, it is mentioned that several Boeing and Airbus aircraft have window -without seats due to the position of the airways, cables, or other components. However, Delta and United did not give a warning sign when passengers chose the seat.
The plaintiffs said the window chairs were bought for various reasons, including overcoming fear of flying, travel sickness, entertaining children, or just enjoying the scenery. If you know that the chair does not have a window, they might not choose it or pay additional fees.
Court documents say the two airlines often call all seats on the side of the plane as “window seats”, even when they know that some seats are not beside the window. Passengers can be charged higher to choose window seats than standard seats.
The lawyer who handled this case considered the practice “misleading” and “violating the law”. In comparison, other airlines such as American Airlines and Alaska Airlines operate similar aircraft, but clearly tell passengers if certain seats do not have a window when ordering. (BBC/Z-2)
