In many places of the regional metropolis, spilled water also complicates road traffic. “As a result of heavy persistent rains, the situation continues to deteriorate and we expect further restrictions on public transport lines. The situation changes every moment. Further closures are to be expected. We are connected with the components of the integrated rescue system and respond operatively to the resulting restrictions, all backups are on standby,” said the DPO.
Company spokeswoman Tereza Šnoblová confirmed that there are problems on tram and bus lines. “There are problems, for example, on tram line number one, where there is a diversion from the Dolní Vítkovice stop, due to the flooded track near the Český dům stop. The tram service is stopped on line number five, and there is a substitute bus service running along its entire length via a diversion via Krásné Pole. There is a flooded road and railway station in the village of Vřesina,” she stated.
For example, bus line 54 also runs through the diversion. However, the situation is constantly changing and people should therefore monitor the website of the transport company, where they can find information about current measures in the emergency section.
Problems on the roads
There are also problems on the roads due to the rain. “In many places in the city, spilled water complicates road traffic. If you don’t have to, don’t go out.” the city said on Facebook.
For example, the underpass under the railway line in Mariánskohorská street is flooded, where a drowned car has already remained. Due to the waterlogged surface, the city also warns against the possibility of uprooting trees.
Heavy rain complicates traffic on the roads in the entire Moravian-Silesian region. For example, both border crossings in Petrovice near Karviné are closed.
