THE HIGH price of domestic airfares continues to be complained about by the public. This condition contradicts the appeal to vacation in Indonesia only echoed by the government.
Entering the end of his term, Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno revealed that his party continues to strive to reduce domestic ticket prices. He said that he will continue to go all out to reduce airline ticket prices.
“There are special orders from the President for plane tickets, so we are trying, we are going all out to be able to get off,” said Sandiaga when met in Jakarta, Wednesday (14/7).
Not alone, to reduce domestic flight ticket prices, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy is also working with other parties including the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Kemenkomarves), the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs and the Ministry of Transportation. With joint efforts, Sandiaga hopes that domestic ticket prices can go down this October.
“By October we hope it can drop by around 10%,” he explained.
Meanwhile, the high price of domestic tickets has actually been complained about by the public for a long time. Based on monitoring on the online travel agent website, plane tickets for departures from Jakarta to Bali for example, for the weekend next week (24/8) are the cheapest at around Rp1.1 million. While the cheapest flight from Jakarta to Kuala Lumpur is priced at around Rp800 thousand. (M-3)
