While the firefighters fight the flames in a second major fire that rages in the Aude, between Sigean and Port-la-Nouvelle, since the beginning of the summer, the risk classified very high and high fire in the south of France, especially due to a strong wind, is a parameter to be taken very seriously.

Fire risk for eighteen departments

Eighteen departments are to be monitored this Sunday, July 28, 2025 according to the forest weather, a tool set up by Météo France which makes it possible to assess the risk according to four classifications but by on the evolution of current lights.

Bouches-du-Rhône and Var in very high risk

Firefighters and authorities will be very vigilant on the Mediterranean coast where the departments of Bouches-du-Rhône and Var are placed in red, in other words in very high fire risk.

It is recalled that these departments have also not been spared since the start of the summer season and the scorching heat. In particular, Marseille and its surroundings which have already paid a heavy price at the hectares destroyed by the flames.

Occitania in high and moderate risk

If the temperatures will not be scorching, on the other hand, the heat and the wind (Mistral and Tramontane) are two factors promoting the risk of a fire departure.

The already strongly impacted Aude is placed in orange alert, that is to say in high risk. Just like the Gard and the Vaucluse.

In moderate risk (yellow vigilance), we find Hérault, the Pyrénées-Orientales, Tarn-et-Garonne, Gers and Haute-Garonne.

Other departments, further east and west are also in yellow vigilance such as: Gironde, Ardèche, Drôme, Hautes-Alpes, Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, Alpes-Maritimes.
