Liberation of Boualem Sansal: two LFI deputies of the Rhône vote against resolution in the National Assembly
This Monday, the National Assembly adopted the European resolution proposal calling for the “immediate and unconditional” liberation of Boualem Sansal.
The Franco-Algerian writer has been imprisoned in Algeria since mid-November after his arbitrary arrest.
But if the text was widely approved thanks to 307 votes “for”, 28 votes “against” triggered the whistles within the hemicycle.
They all come from the group of rebellious France. And among these 28 voters including some party figures like Manuel Bompard, Mathilde Panot or Andy Kerbrat, there were two LFI deputies of the Rhône: Gabriel Amard and Idir Boumertit.
“By voting against the resolution adopted by the National Assembly requesting the release of Boualem Sansal, LFI dark once again in unworthiness and dishonor. Honten”reacted Bruno Retailleau, Minister of the Interior.
Other deputies of the Rhône participated in the ballot and allowed the adoption of the resolution: Tiffany Joncour and Jonathan Gery (RN), Jean-Luc Fugit (Renaissance), Sandrine Runel (PS), Alexandre Portier (LR), Boris Tavernier (Les Ecologists) and Cyrille Isaac-Sibille (Modem).
Already last January, the “against” vote of Rima Hassan and the abstention of Manon Aubry during the vote in the European Parliament of the same resolution calling for the release of Boualem Sansal had made controversy, especially within the left.
Rima Hassan then declared “Oppose the instrumentalization that is done” of the case of the writer by the right and the far right.
