This Sunday morning, the Givors market took place as it does every weekend on Place Henri Barbusse, in front of the town hall.
A usual hubbub that was disrupted by the detonation of a firearm. Le Progrès reports that shortly before 12 noon, a man drew a pistol and fired into the air.
It is believed to have been the result of an altercation between two individuals on the terrace of a neighbouring business.
The shooter managed to escape and there were no injuries.
An investigation has been opened to find the shooter and also the person he was fighting with.
