Like an Indian summer air. France will attend “the establishment of a powerful southerly flow in the middle of the week”which will be accompanied by a mass of air “remarkably warm for the season”reported Météo-France, Sunday November 9, on Bluesky. The temperatures will be “sometimes 6 to 9°C above seasonal norms Wednesday, Thursday and Friday”added, on Sunday, the presenter of the Météo Climat newspaper on France 2, Sébastien Thomas. After a Monday “fairly fresh” and close to seasonal norms, the wind will “come from the much milder air of the south” from Tuesday and especially from Wednesday, he said.
This phenomenon will give rise to “possible monthly records”with “20 to 25°C, or even more, possible in many regions, sometimes even in the mountains, quite amazing for mid-November”had underlined Météo-France forecaster François Jobard, on Friday, on Bluesky. Thursday afternoon, Météo-France forecasts up to 25°C in Biarritz, 24°C in Tarbes, 23°C in Ajaccio, 22°C in Bordeaux, Bourges and Vichy, while the northern half of the country will approach 20°C.
This autumnal situation is part of a mild context observed for more than a month. “As of November 1, less than 10% of the territory experienced negative temperatures (the normal on this date is 40%). This is very little”noted Météo-France climatologist Matthieu Sorel, Wednesday, on Linkedin.
Since the 19th century, the average temperature of the Earth warmed by 1.1°C . Scientists have established with certainty that this increase is due to human activities, which consume fossil fuels (coal, oil and gas). This warming, unprecedented in its speed, threatens the future of our societies and biodiversity.
