Tens of thousands of Finns are vacationing in the snow in the Alps and Dolomites this winter as well. Austria holds its place as the most popular skiing destination.
After Austria, the second most popular skiing and snowboarding destination in the minds of Finns is Italy.
Italy continues to increase in popularity every year.
– Italy has a good price-quality ratio, you simply get a lot of value for money there. This, combined with high-quality food, service and skiing as a whole, makes Italy an increasingly attractive option for Finns, thinks the sales director of STS Alppimattkoj Kira Hasselblatt.
STS Alppimatkat is Finland’s largest ski tour organizer.
Bad Gastein, located in Austria’s Salzburgerland, is Alppimatkoi’s best-selling destination, and the place where the most ski trips are sold in Finland annually.

Alppimatkat owns seven hotels in the village.
– In Bad Gastein, the skiing area offers varying slopes for skiers looking for a challenge as well as families.
– The Hotel Salzburger Hof is particularly well-known, and its five-course dinners are popular with tourists. The destination also has excellent spa opportunities both in hotels and in the popular Felsentherme spa, Hasselblatt continues.

Bad Gastein also has a lively après ski.
– A short bus ride from Salzburg airport is a favorite of many, especially families with children. In the winter season, we fly direct flights to Salzburg, and after that the journey to the destination only takes about an hour and 15 minutes.
Bad Gastein is also a popular summer destination for lovers of hiking and mountain biking.
The second best-selling winter destination for alpine trips is the high-altitude Italian Cervinia and the third on the list is the Austrian Saalbach.
Italy’s Canazei is fourth on the list and Austria’s St. Anton is fifth.

Pizza and bisque
In the Alps, the cheapest pint of beer is about five euros. TIMO KUNNARI
With the help of STS Alppimattaki, Iltalehti found out the prices of beer and pizza in ten well-known alpine villages.
The price survey was done in a mid-level restaurant, so not in the nicest place in the village and not at a street kiosk either. It’s half a liter of beer and a pepperoni pizza or similar.
The cheapest half-liter beer can be found in Bad Gastein, at the Angelo restaurant, and its price is 5.50 euros.
A pint of Italian Canaze and Sauze d’Oulux costs six euros.
The cheapest pizzas in the survey were also found in Italy. In Cervinia and Sauze d’Oulx, you can eat pizza in an average restaurant for 12 euros.
