A second snowy episode this Wednesday
While many areas of north-west France see snow falling this Monday, January 5, sometimes heavily, a new notable snow episode is expected for this Wednesday, January 7.
Indeed, a front is expected to overflow the Atlantic late in the night from Tuesday January 6 to Wednesday January 7. If this will be accompanied by a slight warm spell at altitude, it will also encounter the cold air still present over the majority of the country and will thus bring new snowfall to France.

It is particularly between the north of the country, the Center, the Massif Central and part of Occitanie that the most notable snowfalls are expected, generally depositing between 1 and 3cm on the ground, sometimes more between Île-de-France, Normandy and the Belgian borders. Further east, the air mass should dry out with a few flakes which could still give a little dusting. However, uncertainties persist in part of the north-east of the country regarding the intensity of the precipitation, so it will be necessary to confirm the forecasts by Wednesday.

A third snowy episode the next day!
The oceanic influence will assert itself more clearly the following night on France with the arrival of a new front from the Atlantic, more active than the previous one. This will nevertheless be accompanied by a clearer warm spell than the day before at altitude, thus limiting the risk of snow in more regions.
However, the cold air will still persist over a large eastern half of France during the day, which means that a new snowy episode will occur this Thursday, particularly affecting the east of the country. The rain will, however, take over almost the whole of France by the evening, with the mild weather asserting itself on the ground as well as at altitude.

Thus, it is particularly in the east of France that the highest quantities of snow are expected during this day. The return of the rain should nevertheless quickly erode this layer of snow from the afternoon, later in the most affected areas.
