THE year-end holiday period has once again become the period with the highest demand for flights, in line with the increasing mobility of people to travel, return to their hometowns, or cross-border business trips. Aviation industry data shows that the trend of ticket bookings has increased significantly since early December, especially for international routes in the Southeast Asia region, which is a favorite destination for Indonesian tourists.

This demand pressure encourages airlines to increase capacity, maintain affordability, and expand route choices to ensure smooth passenger flow. Vietnam, with its combination of cultural tourism, culinary delights and growing business opportunities, is one of the destinations recording increased travel interest ahead of and after the year-end holidays.

In this context, Vietjet is preparing strategic steps by presenting a limited ticket sales program aimed at supporting passenger movements throughout 2026. This airline from Vietnam opened flash sale for three days, which provides discounts on basic ticket fares of up to 100% as part of efforts to strengthen Indonesia-Vietnam flight connectivity, as well as expand travel access at more competitive prices.

This program runs from 17 to 19 December 2025, with a travel period covering almost all of 2026. The offer applies to the entire Vietjet flight network, including four direct routes connecting Jakarta and Bali with Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. These routes are considered to have a strategic role in encouraging two-way tourism, business travel and trade activities between the two countries.

For economy class passengers, Vietjet also provides a number of additional facilities relevant to international travel needs, such as checked baggage of up to 20 kilograms and support for digital connectivity via eSIM which can be used while in Vietnam. This scheme is designed to increase travel comfort without increasing cost complexity for passengers.

On the operational side, Vietjet continues to invest in a modern, more fuel efficient fleet and strengthening service standards to support the expansion of its regional network. The airline also maintains service differentiation through typical Vietnamese culinary offerings and international menu choices, as well as integrating a loyalty program that provides added value for loyal passengers.

With regional travel demand projected to remain strong in 2026, these measures reflect how airlines are seeking to balance high flight demand, affordability and service reliability. For Indonesian tourists, the end of the year momentum is a strategic time to plan trips early, as air connectivity between Indonesia and Vietnam is increasingly open. (Fal/E-1)
