Munich (ots) – Disneyland Paris invites its guests to Wonderland: The new musical show “Alice & the Queen of Hearts: Back to Wonderland” re-enacts the timeless Disney classic Alice in Wonderland and brings the interactive, modern stage adaptation to the resort’s largest outdoor stage. Following the opening of “TOGETHER: a Pixar Musical Adventure”, the drone sequence “Disney Electrical Sky Parade” and the seasonal daytime show “A Million Splashes of Colour” in recent months, the show joins Disneyland Paris’ award-winning entertainment program.
While the cartoon ends with a game of croquet between Alice and the Queen of Hearts, where there is no winner, the new show at Walt Disney Studios Park offers a different version of the final scene, immersing guests in an extravagant tea party in the heart of Wonderland in the presence of Alice and her friends. But things don’t go as expected. Disappointed by the fact that she is not the only guest of honor, the Queen of Hearts decides to have a musical rock-pop duel with Alice. The audience will experience five songs that were newly created for the show. The two adversaries are accompanied by extravagant performances: while acrobats jump over trampoline walls, BMX riders perform stunts to the sound of music, creating impressive images and choreographies.
What appears to be a musical duel is, at its core, a confrontation between different philosophies of life. Alice embodies the idea that you have to believe in dreams and fantasy. In this way, she wants to create her own universe and change the world. The Queen of Hearts is much more egocentric and defends her own vision, which says that you have to believe in yourself to be successful in everything you do. “This duality is expressed through the music and the artistic disciplines,” says show director Matteo Borghi. While Alice immerses guests in a pop music-inspired atmosphere that reflects her cheerful personality and her love of partying alongside the Mad Hatter, the Queen of Hearts lives in her own world, inspired by classic rock!
To crown this spectacular show, for the first time in the history of Disneyland Paris, the audience decides when the show ends. Because that’s exactly what Wonderland is all about: you never know what to expect!
Alice & the Queen of Hearts can be seen several times a day in the “Theater of the Stars” in Walt Disney Studios® Park until September 29, 2024. All information about Disneyland Paris can be found at www.disneylandparis.de
