The emergency department of the Motol and Homolka University Hospital is extremely busy due to patients with ice injuries. Ice has complicated transport in many places in the Czech Republic, Prague airport is also reporting problems. There were also more trips by rescuers. - Dangerous ice forms from early in the morning especially in central Bohemia, in Pardubice, in a large part of the Highlands and in southern and central Moravia, there are complications on roads and railways.
- ČHMÚ stated that precipitation from the northwest will stop during the morning and more significant ones will not arrive.
- In many places, however, the ice will remain until the afternoon, meteorologists warned.
- An ice storm paralyzed traffic at Prague Airport this morning, it operates in a very limited mode due to intense freezing rain. The restrictions on arrivals will have an impact on flight delays throughout the day.
- The Prague rescue service registered almost 50 injuries in connection with the glacier until 08:00 today. Most often, these were falls with fractures and injuries to the head or back.
- In Central Bohemia this morning, a large part of suburban and regional bus lines are not running due to the glacier, there are also problems on the railway, Prague Integrated Transport (PID) said.
- Due to heavily frozen trolleys, part of the trains on the backbone lines are not running. For example, morning connections from Prague to Kolín, Benešov, Milovice and Kralup nad Vltavou were cancelled.
- The police registers a greater number of traffic accidents in the Moravian-Silesian Region due to the glacier. Trucks in particular have problems, especially in the Bruntál region. “We encourage drivers to drive with extreme caution and adapt their driving to current weather conditions and their abilities,” spokeswoman Pavla Jiroušová said.
