The engines come from Ornans, in the Loue valley. The bogies (carriages located under the cars, on which the wheels are fixed) come from Creusot, in Saône-et-Loire. These two Alstom sites participated in the construction of the MF19 metro, which has just entered service on the brand new Line 10 of the Paris metro. Then, the MF19 trains will be gradually installed on other lines: 7bis, 3bis, 13, 12, 8, 3 and 7.

These new trains are intended to replace the old wagons, which have become obsolete over time. The MF19s are designed “for the comfort of travelers”, explains Alstom: air conditioning, ergonomic seats, USB ports, PMR access, information more readable on “numerous real-time information screens”, video surveillance…

It is a “real concentrate of technology”, rejoices Alstom. The MF19s can be equipped with four or five cars for a length of 61 to 77.5 meters. They are offered with driver’s cabin or in a fully automated version. The passenger area is flexible, to offer more or fewer seats depending on the number of people.

Business is good for Alstom. Last April, the group announced an investment of 150 million euros in France, to meet the growing demand for very high-speed trains. 1,000 hires are planned in France. The Ornans and Le Creusot sites are affected by this investment plan: they should be used for robotization and advanced welding techniques.

In March 2025, Alstom signed a 781 million euro contract with Morocco to produce 18 TGVs. The project will work on the Belfort and Ornans sites at least until 2030. Earlier, in December 2024, Alstom also announced that it would participate in the creation of 35 new Île-de-France RER trainsets. Good news for all production sites, both in Franche-Comté, Le Creusot and elsewhere in France.
