The meteorologist and director of the EMY, Thodoris Kolidas, made an announcement about the impending bad weather. In his post, he emphasized that on Sunday and Monday there will be rains and snow will fall in mountainous continental and semi-mountainous areas of central and northern Greece.

Good afternoon. As we have reported from the previous days, there will be a change in the weather on Sunday and the relevant emergency bulletin will be issued tomorrow Saturday to provide as complete information as possible on the development of the weather.

The weather will worsen on Sunday and Monday in Western, Central and Northern Greece with locally strong rains and storms, mainly in the northwest, while snow this two days will fall in the mountainous continental areas as well as in the semi-mountains of central and northern Greece.

In northern Greece, mainly from Sunday evening and Monday, it will also snow in areas with lower altitude. (very careful in Western Macedonia) .

The temperature over the two days will drop by a total of 8 to 10 degrees in the central and northern regions and by 3 to 5 degrees in the rest, returning to normal levels for the season. Northeasterly winds in the Central and Northern Aegean will reach 7 to 8 Beaufort.

According to ERT meteorologist Anastasia Tiraski, a change in weather is expected from Sunday.

Cold air masses of arctic origin, which have already started to descend further south from today Friday (19/1), on Saturday (11/1) they will cover central Europe and the Balkans, reaching the outskirts of our country and, as they will meet the warm and moist air masses in the Mediterranean region, will give several rains, storms and snowfalls.

These phenomena will affect Greece on Sunday and Monday, with rain almost all over the country, storms mainly in the west and the Aegean, snow in the continental mountains but also in areas with lower altitude in the north, a drop in temperature and gale force winds.

The weather for Saturday (11/1)

Clouds temporarily increased in most of the country. Rains will occur in the west, the north, the islands of the eastern Aegean and the Dodecanese. Local snowfall will occur from the evening in the mountains of Macedonia and Thrace

Visibility in the morning and evening hours will be locally limited.

The winds will blow west southwest 4 to 6 Beaufort and only in the north north northeast with the same intensity.

The temperature will drop slightly in the north, while it will remain at high levels for the season in the center and south. It will reach 13 to 15 degrees in the north, 16 to 18 degrees in the rest of the country and locally 19 degrees Celsius in the south.

The weather for Sunday (12/1)

Increased clouds and rain in almost all the country. Sporadic storms will occur mainly in the west and from the evening in the northeastern Aegean where the effects are likely to be strong in places. Snowfall will occur in western Macedonia, in the mountains of the rest of the northern country and from the evening in the northern semi-mountains as well as in the central mountains.

The winds will blow in the north north northeast 5 to 6 and from noon in the northern Aegean 7 to 8 Beaufort and in the rest from the south directions 4 to 6 Beaufort.

The temperature will drop in northern and central Greece by 4 to 5 degrees Celsius.

The weather for Monday (13/1)

Increased clouds with rain across the country. Sporadic storms will occur in the Ionian, temporarily in the eastern continental and northeastern Aegean. Snowfall will occur in the highlands of the mainland and in the northern semi-mountains.

Winds will blow in the west and south south southeast 5 to 7 Beaufort, while in the east and north north northeast 6 to 8 Beaufort.

The temperature will drop further.

The weather for Tuesday (14/1)

In the west a few clouds temporarily increased in the morning. In the rest, clouds with local rains and isolated storms in the southern seas, while snowfall will occur in the morning hours in the mountains of the eastern mainland and in the northern semi-mountains. A gradual improvement is expected from noon.

The winds will blow east northeast 4 to 6 and on the seas locally 7 to 8 Beaufort.

The temperature in the center and the north will fluctuate at levels a little lower than normal, while in the rest of the country there will be no significant change. In the morning and evening there will be some frost in the north.
