AT THE END of the Nataru holiday season and school holidays, Cemara Island in Brebes, Central Java, is still a tourist destination that is busy with visitors. This tourist destination with natural views of the beaches of an island outside Java has its own uniqueness.
Traveling along the coastline is commonplace. So, how about taking a trip to Cemara Island, which is in Sawojajar Village, Wanasari District, Brebes Regency. Cemara Island is an emerging land off the coast of Java Island, which was formed from river sedimentation and became an island, now used as an attractive tourist spot.
Cemara Island has been a beach tourism destination for nine years. Visitors who come to Cemara Island still come from Brebes Regency, Tegal, Tegal City and other neighboring districts, such as Cirebon.
With the condition of the beach being clean and sloping, tourists, mostly children and their parents, feel at home playing in the sea water on the beach.
“Apart from being able to relax in the gazebos spread across the island, children can also bathe on the beach and play in the sand,” said a visitor, Yuni, Sunday (4/1/2026).
To get to Cemara Island, tourists must take a boat first, starting from pier one. Tourists only need to pay the return boat fare of IDR 25 thousand for adults and 10 thousand for children. And during the journey, tourists will walk through the mangrove forest in about 20 minutes.
According to the manager of the Cemara Island tourist destination, Bagus Haryadi, during the Nataru holiday season and school holidays, Cemara Island is still a preferred beach tourist destination with its uniqueness.
“Thank God, the visitors are never empty, especially on holidays,” said Bagus Haryadi, manager of the Cemara Island tourist destination.
According to Bagus, since the Cemara Island tourist attraction was opened to the public, MSMEs who opened businesses in this tourist complex have also been promoted.
“Tourists who come can buy souvenirs, such as ready-to-eat pressure-cooked milkfish, fresh squid and fresh clams. Apart from that, there are also Ecoprint batiks made by Sawaojajar Village batik craftsmen,” explained Bagus. (H-2)
