Did the firefighters and Canadair have been slow to intervene during the violent fires in Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône), Tuesday July 8? The inhabitants challenge the means implemented.

A Marseillaise has seen his life parade. Tuesday, July 8, Pascale Reyier evacuated her house in a hurry, accompanied by her octogenarian parents. However, she waited for firefighters, to no avail. “It took three hours when they arrive”, she said. If the four walls of his house are still standing, it is thanks to his brother-in-law, who braved the flames to water with the water from his swimming pool.

The firefighters ended up arriving in the Estaque district, too late to save the houses. 750 hectares of land and 70 houses have been burned or are uninhabitable. But what prevented the air forces from intervening in the area? On the ground, 900 firefighters were mobilized. Faced with unprecedented violence fires, the security forces believe they have avoided the worst. Increased vigilance in the coming days, the return of the Mistral and the hot weather increases the risk of new fires.
