A violent episode of hail falls in Lyon, no damage reported

A rain of hailstones fell to Lyon this Saturday, May 3 at the end of the afternoon. The Lyon region is placed in yellow vigilance by Météo France all weekend.

A brief episode, but particularly intense. Strong precipitation hit Lyon this Saturday, May 3, without notable victims or damage being reported at this stage. For about fifteen minutes, a hailstone flood swept through the streets.

After a hot and sunny day, a rain of golf balls fell on the city. Shortly after 5 p.m., suddenly, the hailstones fell with great intensity, leading passers -by to protect themselves as best they can.

The hail episode developed on the Mountains of Lyonnais, before falling in Lyon. He was impressive but does not seem to have material consequences. Firefighters do not report activity related to climatic hazards either.

Météo France services had warned risk of intense thunderstorms this weekend and placed Lyon and its surroundings on yellow alert. The stormy episodes, which will be accompanied by a drop in abnormally summer temperatures, must follow one another until Sunday afternoon.
