A newborn baby was found dead, probably killed by scissors, in Tarare (Rhône) in the west of Lyon on Sunday, February 23, 2025, confirmed the Lyon prosecutor’s office in News Lyon.

The national gendarmerie was called in emergency at the home of a couple in the evening from Saturday to Sunday after the child’s body discovered by the father.

17 -year -old mother custody lifted “for medical reasons”

The body of the child whose age is not known was found dead in a housing in the town, reveals Progress This Sunday. It would have been found under a bed enveloped in a sheet.

The prosecution confirms the death of a newborn baby last night in Tarare and “the opening of an investigation by the voluntary homicide chief of a 15-year-old minor”.

The 17 -year -old mother was placed in police custodysuspected of the murder, confirms the Lyon prosecutor’s office specifying that “his police custody was raised for medical reasons”.

The investigation, entrusted to the Villefranche sur Saône research brigade, is now continuing under the authority of the Lyon prosecution, competent in criminal matters, he said.
