A man was seriously injured by gunshots during the night from Thursday to Friday in Vaulx-en-Velin (Rhône) and “his vital prognosis is engaged“, confirmed this Friday, December 19, the Lyon prosecutor’s office.

An investigation was immediately opened by the Lyon public prosecutor’s office on charges of attempted intentional homicide. The investigations, entrusted to the Organized and Specialized Crime Division (DCOS), aim to determine the circumstances and motives of these facts and identify the perpetrator(s), specifies the prosecution.

According to a police source at AFP, the events occurred around 1 a.m. near a drug sales point, the victim, aged around twenty, was found in a car.

Last April, a 19-year-old young man was shot several times near a drug dealer in a sensitive area of ​​Vaulx-en-Velin, against a backdrop of “gang war” according to the authorities. Twelve days later, the alleged shooter, aged 18, recruited on social networks and from the Paris region, was indicted for murder. An inmate from Corbas, near Lyon, suspected of having remotely controlled the murder from his cell to eliminate competition on this very active deal point, was also indicted in this case.

The government wants to strengthen the fight against drug trafficking.
