Bad weather with the change of weather will affect areas of Western and Central Macedonia. Snow is expected to fall in Thessaloniki, as well as in other cities of Northern Greece.
Weather: Raid from the Balkans – Snow from Sunday
The temperature is going to drop a lot and according to the forecasts so far, in addition to the mountain snow, it will also fall in the plains.
Forecasts show that after January 10 and 11, quite a bit of cold will come from the Balkans.
“There is a possibility that these colder air masses will descend in several areas of our country. If this happens, why not have snow surprises, depending on how this cold will be combined”, noted Sakis Arnautoglou.
The change in weather will start from Saturday, however it will be quite noticeable on Sunday with a steep drop in temperature and snow.
It is noted that long-term forecasts, such as those from the ECMWF, record trends and not secure forecasts. Conditions in the atmosphere may change, affecting the exact extent and intensity of the phenomena.

Clouds temporarily increased throughout the country. Rain will occur in western and northern Greece and the eastern and southern Aegean, while it will snow from the afternoon in the northern mountains.
Winds will blow to the west and south from west directions 4 to 6 Beaufort. In the east and north the winds will blow from north directions 4 to 6 Beaufort.
The temperature will drop in the north while it will be maintained at high levels for the season in the center and the south.
The weather on Sunday (12.01.2025)
Increased clouds with local rains and mainly in the western parts sporadic storms. The effects in the west are likely to be strong in places. Snowfall will occur in the central and northern continental highlands and semi-mountains.
Winds to the west will blow east southeast 4 to 6 and gradually 7 to 8 Beaufort. In the east, northeast winds will blow 5 to 7 and in the Aegean locally 8 Beaufort.
The temperature will drop significantly in northern and central Greece.
